Leif Davis has a calf injury and the Foxes take on Ipswich Town at Leicester City
Leif Davis, the assist machine for Ipswich Town, has announced that he has fully recovered from the calf injury that has kept him out of action for the past few weeks.
Town’s dynamic left back was sidelined by a calf strain during the festive period, but he later made a comeback to score the game-winning goal in the thrilling 2-1 victory over Sunderland.
When questioned about the injury, the 24-year-old claimed he had fully recovered.
“I’m thrilled to be back,” he exclaimed. “Having the scan and learning that something wasn’t quite right devastated me, of course, but I didn’t want to push myself too much and end up in more pain.
“But now that I’m over that, I’m ready to go for it in the second half of the season.”
And when Town travels to league leaders Leicester City tonight (8pm), they will need Davis, who has already racked up an amazing 10 assists this season, to perform at his peak.
With Southampton’s most recent victory over the weekend, the Blues’ goal differential has dropped them to third place; therefore, they must secure at least a point to stay in the top two.
And the flying Foxes would get back to within four points of the Blues with a victory tonight, which would certainly tighten things at the top of the Championship.
“We know how good they are and why they are in the position they are in the league,” Davis said of tonight’s encounter, which is a rematch of the thrilling 1-1 Boxing Day tie at Portman Road.
“It isn’t long since we played them at home so it’s a quick turnaround,” Davis said.
It will be difficult for us because many of their players have Premier League experience, but it will also be difficult for them since we will be going there to put pressure on them.
“Even though we’re not at home, we will continue to do what we do since we caused them problems at Portman Road.
“The key is to put in a lot of effort, support one another to the fullest, and see what we can accomplish.”
