pswich Town: Jon Dahl Tomasson leaves Championship rivals Blackburn.

With a game remaining, Rovers are five points above the relegation zone in 18th place in the table, which is why he is leaving. But in recent weeks, the team has struggled with off-field problems, which has provoked strong fan backlash against the Venkys, the club’s owners, as well as important board members.

After missing out on a top-six finish the previous season, Tomasson said he offered to leave Ewood Park. However, the club wanted him to stay, even though significant financial sacrifices would have to be made, leaving little money to bolster the team.

On deadline day, Blackburn replaced him with Sheffield United’s John Fleck on a free transfer, but it appears they will not be able to sign Duncan McGuire, their top striker target.

While the two clubs were able to renegotiate a loan deal with an option to buy, the Orlando City man learned that his permanent move to Lancashire was off the table while traveling to the UK. However, Rovers neglected to click the “submit paperwork” button on the day of the deadline, so the paperwork was not processed in time.

After that, Tomasson was informed that he would not be permitted to attend his pre-game press conference in advance of his team’s 2-1 loss to QPR. He emphasized that fans shouldn’t be kept in the dark about important matters, but he was unable to go into detail about any of the club’s decisions made following the game.

As tensions increased, stories surfaced on Wednesday indicating that the manager had negotiated his departure as a result. Blackburn announced the news this afternoon, meaning that they would be without an interim manager for Saturday’s crucial match against Stoke City, their relegation opponents.

It means that on Good Friday, March 29th, when Town visits Ewood Park, someone else will be in command. The only other time Tomasson faced Kieran McKenna was in late September, when the Blues came out on top 4-3.

The Dane, who during his playing career won the Champions League with AC Milan, is the 14th manager to leave the team since the season began.
