Former Blues Striker Bajner Back in Football After Covid Struggles.
Bajner, 33, signed for Haladás, another Nemzeti Bajnokság II club, which is based in his hometown of Szombathely. He last played for Pécs, a Nemzeti Bajnokság II (second division) team in his native Hungary, in the 2020–21 season.
The striker, who was signed by Mick McCarthy in the summer of 2014 after a trial following the 6′ 6″ tall frontman’s release by Borussia Dortmund, made one start for the Blues—against Fulham on the first day of 2014–15, lasting only 44 minutes—and six substitute appearances. On Instagram, the striker disclosed that he had experienced a difficult few year.
It was a difficult moment, he wrote. “I lost my father six times, was admitted to the hospital by ambulance four times, and experienced COVID-19 syndrome for a year afterward.
However, at this point, I’m stronger, more driven, hungry, and determined than ever before. I’m back, I made it!”
Town’s social media was taken over by Hungarians who posted the meme “No Bajner, No Party” during the striker’s brief stint with the Blues, which ended after six months in January 2015 when he signed for Notts County.
