Breaking News: Ice hockey head coach just announced his departure due to….

Mike Babcock leaves his position as the Blue Jackets’ head coach while a probe into claims of privacy violations is ongoing.

After barely two months on the job, Mike Babcock resigned as the Columbus Blue Jackets’ coach on Sunday. Earlier this week, it was reported that Babcock had asked players to show him pictures on their phones.

Following an NHL Players’ Association probe into Babcock’s behavior, the franchise made the unexpected announcement of his resignation. Babcock was replaced as associate coach by Pascal Vincent, who inked a two-year deal that would last through the 2024–25 season.

In an interview with the “Spittin’ Chiclets” podcast, former NFL player Paul Bissonnette revealed that he was informed by an unnamed player that the seasoned coach would invite players to see pictures on their phones during one-on-one sessions, then broadcast the images on his TV.

In a joint statement issued by the Blue Jackets, Babcock, 60, and Columbus captain Boone Jenner said that the claim is “a blatant distortion of those meetings and exceedingly disrespectful.”
