The Georgia Bulldogs defeated Auburn 27-20 to maintain their winning record.

(Atlanta News First) AUBURN, AL The Georgia Bulldogs defeated Auburn 27–20 at Jordan-Hare Stadium, passing their first road test of the season.

Carson Beck, the quarterback for Georgia, was making his first road start, thus that was the main concern going into the game. He completed 23 passes for 313 yards. In the first quarter, when Beck was being tackled, he made a pass to Rara Thomas, one of his many outstanding plays. He was also quite successful on third down, converting eight of them.

Beck has his share of vices. During Georgia’s customarily poor start, he threw an interception in the first quarter that allowed Auburn to score.

Ladd McConkey, a wide receiver, made his season debut after overcoming a back ailment. McConkey gained 38 yards on four receptions.

In addition, Beck used a variety of additional receivers. Tight end Brock Bowers led the squad with eight receptions for 157 yards; seven Bulldogs had at least one reception. In the second half, Bowers recorded the most yards in a half of his career.

Daijun Edwards, the running back, had an excellent day as well, gaining 76 yards and two scores on just 19 touches.

In order to win, the Dawgs persevered despite several further injuries. Breakout offensive lineman Amarius Mims has been sidelined for a prolonged period of time following ankle surgery, while running back Kendall Milton has been recovering from an MCL injury.

Late in the fourth quarter, Malaki Starks intercepted a pass to secure the victory.

The passing problems faced by Auburn’s quarterback carousel could not be resolved. Peyton Thorne shared snaps with Robby Ashford and completed passes for 82 yards.

Rather, the Tigers depended on a forceful running strategy. Early in the game, Thorne burst on a 60-yard rush, good for 92 yards. Jarquez Hunter, an Auburn fullback, led the Tigers’ offense with 59 yards of running as well.

Now, Georgia has won 16 of the previous 19 games as well as the last seven encounters in the Deep South’s oldest rivalry. Nov. 11, 2017, was Auburn’s last victory.

The Dawgs’ next game, against the Kentucky Wildcats, is scheduled for October 7 at Sanford Stadium. This week, the Wildcats defeated the Florida Gators 33–14.
