Marco Silva faces a touchline ban after receiving his third yellow card of the season during Fulham’s match against Arsenal, marking his absence from the dugout for their upcoming Carabao Cup fixture against Tottenham. The Football Association’s (FA) stricter regulations on manager and player conduct this season, including a new ‘participant charter’, have led to this sanction. Silva, who has previously served touchline bans, admitted the challenge of adapting to these heightened standards.
Expressing the importance of being on the bench to support his team, Silva acknowledged the possibility of considering his future if he’s restricted to the stands, as he prefers active involvement. Despite this setback, Fulham demonstrated resilience in their 2-2 draw with Arsenal, particularly notable after Calvin Bassey’s red card reduced them to ten men. Silva voiced frustration over refereeing inconsistency, particularly regarding Bassey’s initial yellow card for time-wasting. He cited similar instances where such behavior went unpunished, questioning the officiating’s consistency.
