Exclusive: Despite his desire to remain at Craven Cottage, Willian has turned down Fulham’s offer of a one-year contract extension and is actively exploring opportunities with other Premier League clubs.
The 33-year-old had hoped to continue his tenure at Fulham, but the club’s reluctance to enhance the terms of the offered contract, which were deemed inadequate, has prompted him to seek alternatives.
With his current deal set to expire imminently, Willian has already initiated discussions with other top-flight teams as he aims to prolong his stay in English football.
Willian’s decision comes as a significant setback for Fulham, who benefitted from his return to English football last season.
Manager Marco Silva also expressed a desire to retain Willian, but now faces the task of finding suitable replacements.
While Silva’s own future remains uncertain, recent changes in his representation have raised concerns about a potential departure. Nonetheless, there is a belief that he will reject lucrative offers from Saudi Arabian clubs to remain at Fulham.
With one year left on his contract, Silva has a release clause of £6 million.
Additionally, there are speculations about Shekhter Donetsk loanee Manor Solomon potentially leaving Fulham, with Tottenham showing interest in disrupting their pursuit of a free transfer.
The friendly match between Spurs and Shachar this summer suggests a possible inclination by the Israel international towards a move to Tottenham.
