The leaders of the Nzema Manle Traditional Council in the Western Region expressed appreciation for the significant development projects undertaken by the Ghana National Gas Company in the Nzema area, where its gas processing plant is situated. They highlighted that these initiatives have notably enhanced the living standards of the residents. Some of the initiatives mentioned include the establishment of healthcare and educational facilities, educational support programs, awarding scholarships to students, building sports facilities and roads, and installing mechanized boreholes, among others.
The chiefs emphasized that all three Nzema districts in the Western Region have benefited from the developmental projects of Ghana Gas. This acknowledgment occurred during a meeting between company officials and the chiefs of the Nzema Manle Council, aimed at discussing the company’s operations and addressing community concerns.
Awulae Agyefi Kwame, the Paramount Chief of Nsein Traditional Area, noted that while Ghana may not fulfill all their developmental needs, the chiefs are grateful for the contributions made by the gas company to the communities. He also mentioned that the company has provided opportunities for tertiary graduates from the Nzema area to undertake their national service, citing an example of his queenmother currently serving at Ghana Gas.
Stephen Donkor, the Senior Manager of Community Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at Ghana Gas, clarified that the meeting with the chiefs was organized by the company’s Community Relations and CSR department to familiarize the chiefs with its operations, listen to their concerns, and explore ways to address them.
