Team news from Everton | Former Spur doubtful for Saturday

Before our Premier League match at Goodison Park on Saturday with an early kickoff (12.30pm UK), Arnaut Danjuma is doubtful for Everton.

The dynamic forward, who spent the second half of the previous season on loan from Villareal, made an impression in a cameo appearance off the bench during our 2-1 victory over Everton on December 23. In fact, he had two late opportunities to tie the score: in the first, a deflected shot that Guglielmo Vicario expertly saved, and in the second, nearly the final play of the match, Danjuma’s attempt that struck the post, Vicario, and bounced to safety.

But Danjuma was substituted late in Everton’s goalless draw with Fulham on Tuesday, and Sean Dyche says he’s doubtful for Saturday’s game.

The return of Senegal international Idrissa Gana Gueye from the AFCON this week has helped Dyche, much like Ange Postecoglou did with Pape Sarr. However, Dyche is still without critical midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, and another vital player in the center areas, Amadou Onana, is questionable.

During the pregame press conference on Thursday, Dyche stated: “Doucs (Doucoure) is not with us yet, so he is unlikely.” Arnie (Danjuma) is doubtful since we got a knock on him and the game is soon approaching. It’s still unclear about Amadou; he’s quite tentative.”

In addition, Dyche stated that Ashley Young was alright following his comeback to play at Craven Cottage and that captain Seamus Coleman “is a maybe.”
