Meanwhile, it is also being reported that Everton center back Jarrad Brathwaite is on Real Madrid’s radar ahead of a potential summer move. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also being linked with a move for the defender.
The Blues have also held talks with Manchester United over a loan deal for Hannibal Mejri. The ECHO understands that the Goodison Park club are one of a number of sides interested in signing the midfielder this month.

Amadou Onana has been linked to Arsenal today as we begin the second week of January with a flurry of rumors. My understanding of the situation is that Arsenal is interested in the Belgium international – they have been for a long time – but there are obstacles to a deal. Arsenal is operating with caution this month because the club, having spent around £200m in the summer, is being careful around its profit and sustainability position. This is not to say a deal will not be done, but the Gunners probably need to sell some of the club’s fringe players before it can consider a deal as big as the one Onana would require. Even then, they may need Everton to reduce the club’s valuation from the summer. Full details in my transfer update here.
