The Wings’ four-game road trip came to an abrupt end on Tuesday in Buffalo, when they lost 7-3, extending their losing run to six games. The road hasn’t been kind to them.
The Wings were hoping that their improved play from the previous two games in Arizona and Vegas would help them secure a much-needed win on Tuesday.
That did not, by any means, occur because of a terrible start. A little more than fifteen minutes into the game, the Sabres lead 4-1, goalie Alex Lyon was replaced, and things really didn’t get much better from there. Trainer Derek Lalonde remarked, “Awful start.” “We gave them that easy offense early on, and then we simply got spooked and got out of our structure. We had no legs, no speed, and they were playing fast.
“It just piled up in the first period.”
A long list of problems is suddenly emerging as the Wings prepare to visit Arizona on Thursday, the first of three games in a four-day span.
There isn’t enough scoring by the Wings. Defensively, they’re surrendering far too many. Additionally, the goaltending is faltering.

Additionally, they are still missing goalie Ville Husso (lower body) and captain Dylan Larkin (lower body). On Tuesday, Joe Veleno (upper body) was injured after taking a puck to the side of his neck, but Lalonde was optimistic that Veleno would be back for the game on Thursday.
However, the Wings’ recent poor beginnings to games have been their main source of problems and injuries.
Above all, the Wings are falling behind and playing far too much catch up; they are also starting the game really slowly, allowing opponents to influence the game.
