Following protests from the supporters, Roy Hodgson was replaced by Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace in an attempt to turn the team around.
Glasner’s contemporary strategy offers Palace optimism for the future.
It will now be a struggle for Palace to retain onto Dougie Freedman, Marc Guehi, and Michael Olise.
Oliver Glasner was recently chosen by Crystal Palace to succeed Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park. Journalist Dean Jones has now told GIVEMESPORT that the Eagles are on the right track and might have a successful season finale under the new leadership.
In recent months, Palace has been the subject of a great deal of hostility, with some fans criticizing the direction the team was taking and Hodgson finding it difficult to get the most out of his players. In an attempt to right the ship, the board decided to fire Hodgson and bring Glasner in to take over.
It was never going to be a long-term appointment, even though Hodgson did a great job leading the Eagles away from relegation last season. The seasoned manager stepped out of retirement to take the helm at Selhurst Park. With a new, progressive manager at the helm, Palace may be able to advance to a higher league.
Earlier in the season, during Palace’s crushing away loss to Arsenal, the away fans at the Emirates Stadium were observed waving a number of banners in disgust at the way the team was being managed. A banner said something like that.
“Potential lost. Poor decisions both on and off the field. putting us in the past.”
After the game, Hodgson and Eberechi Eze went to apologize to the away fans, while another banner called on Palace owner Steve Parish to resign from the team. After about a month, the Palace board decided to fire Hodgson and replace him with Glasner, who would serve as his permanent replacement until 2026.
The Eagles defeated Burnley 3-0 in Glasner’s debut game in the dugout, but it’s too soon to say if things are improving after they were defeated by Tottenham Hotspur away from home the previous time out. Journalist Jones previously stated to GIVEMESPORT that Glasner will update Selhurst Park with a contemporary style. Although he doesn’t think things will get better quickly, the 49-year-old manager ought to get support during the summer transfer window.
