Denmark defender Joachim Andersen has revealed that they were robbed against Germany in the Round of 16 of the ongoing Euro 2024 Championship.
Recall that Denmark thought they had gone in front just after half-time when Joachim Andersen scored, but the effort was eventually ruled out following a VAR check which showed Thomas Delaney was just offside before setting up the goal.Read Also: NNL Boss Hails El-Kanemi Warriors For Winning President Federations Cup
When play restarted, Germany immediately attacked, and a David Raum cross brushed off the arm of Crystal Palace defender Andersen in the Danish box, leading to another VAR check and the award of the penalty, which Havertz converted.
Reacting after the defeat, Anderson, in a chat with EuroFoot, stated that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) helped Germany qualify for the quarterfinals.
The United States international and the Colombia international – who are both currently away at the Copa America – reached out to Andersen on Instagram.
Richards wrote “var is garbage … helluva tourney bro” to show his disapproval of how technology spoiled Denmark’s chances of beating Germany.
The Crystal Palace No.26 even ended up arguing with an Instagram user about VAR, writing “u didn’t watch the game did u” and “var wasn’t meant for either of those calls, if that’s the case what’s the point of having referees anymore if computers make all of the game changing decisions” when defending Andersen.
