PSL 2025 return, “retiring” umpire Aleem Dar will continue to serve on the Pakistan cricket selection committee.
Aleem Dar’s appointment to the national selection committee is scheduled to be announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Aleem Dar will formally step down from his umpiring role at the end of the 2024–25 domestic season in Pakistan.
Now that Aleem Dar is expected to officiate the PSL 2025 after the tri-series against South Africa and New Zealand in 2025, the question of how he may join the national selection committee emerges.
In early 2023, Aleem Dar departed from the ICC’s Elite Panel of umpires. However, he still performs in his home country. The official announcement is scheduled for a later time; the PCB has not yet made a decision on the topic.
Aqib Javed and Azhar Ali, two former cricketers for the national squad, are anticipated to be on the selection committee in addition to Aleem Dar. As anticipated, Asad Shafiq will continue to hold his committee position.
However, it’s still unclear what will happen to Aleem Dar. He will keep officiating games for the duration of Pakistan’s current domestic season. It is anticipated that the tri-series will be his final official international match. In addition, he is anticipated to play in the PSL 2025, which is anticipated to happen in May of that year.
I have dedicated nearly twenty-five years of my life to umpiring, and I have been honored to officiate some of the most memorable games featuring the greatest players.” for this generation as well. Retiring Aleem Dar said in a statement a few weeks ago, “I have worked to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship throughout my career, and it has been an honor to work alongside some of the finest match officials in the world.”
