ileitis, with my complete backing. Fans of the Chicago Blackhawks have witnessed over the past ten years that this organization is no longer afraid to make difficult or emotionally driven decisions. Those times are a long time ago. Joel’s was challenging, of course, as it ought to have been. Joel ushered in an amazing era of hockey and brought three Stanley Cups to the city of Chicago and our supporters while serving as head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Upon Joel’s first hiring for our 2008 campaign, we were quite optimistic about his ability to elevate the team to unprecedented heights. He exceeded everyone’s expectations. This choice was more difficult than the one made in 2008. However, we think that the adjustments we made today will be crucial to the Chicago Blackhawks’ ability to win championships in the future, including this season, as we look to an undefined future history.
Joel has shown amazing leadership and produced amazing accomplishments, and I wish him and his family all the best. The success he brought to our franchise, our fans, and my family is something that nothing can ever take away. Joel’s legacy will go on as the most unforgettable Chicago Blackhawks hockey period. And for that, we will always be linked and will always be appreciative. Considering our admiration for Joel and everything he has contributed to the Chicago Blackhawks over the past ten years, this was a very tough choice. His three Stanley Cup triumphs as a leader speak for themselves, and words cannot fully convey the impact he has had on this team. He is and will always be a valuable member of the Blackhawks organization. We really appreciate his contribution to the development of the Blackhawks culture and standard, and we wish him, Kevin, and Ulf all the best in the future.
