Despite what Leeds United supporters were hoping for, Burnley has announced the departure of a defender on Twitter.
As Leeds United supporters wait for a deal to be completed for Connor Roberts, they are growing more and more anxious about the short amount of time left in the January window.
Burnley has now declared the departure of a defender.
However, the 28-year-old Roberts’ arrival in Leeds is not the one that the team’s supporters desire.C.J. Egan-Riley is the one who delivers it instead. Until the end of the season, the youthful defender is a member of PSV.
Burnley has made the loan announcement on Twitter, which could indicate that they will soon begin announcing some exits on social media to validate the agreements.
However, Roberts has not received any mention.
Leeds supporters are concerned because, as of just over two hours remaining in the window, nothing has been confirmed.
Roberts has received another communication from Joe Rodon’s brother on Twitter.
With enough time remaining to complete a deal, Leeds will still be optimistic that they can sign Roberts before the deadline of 11 p.m.
However, since this is Leeds, supporters are used to the unexpected.
On the day of the deadline, Roberts is not the only player rumored to be joining Leeds.
Mason Holgate of Everton, Joe Worrall of Forest, Paul Dummett of Newcastle United, and Harry Souttar of Leicester.
The only player who appears certain to arrive at Elland Road on deadline day is Roberts.
However, no announcements have been made as of yet, despite Burnley posting exits on social media.
