Report news: Burnley have made interest signing two top …

‘Whichever names gets us there’: Burnley boss Vincent Kompany delivers message to Manuel Benson after January speculation.

Manager Vincent Kompany wants the winger to be a part of the team’s last-ditch effort to avoid relegation, and that is his message to him.

It happens after the 26-year-old, a key player in the Championship title victory from the previous season, was frequently linked to leaving Turf Moor during the January transfer window.

Benson, who was once again left out of Burnley’s squad for the draw against Fulham, needs to find a method to force his way back into Kompany’s first-team plans after the move never materialized.

“Like everyone else, I’m only focused on the team right now, so my message is not just to him but to the entire team,” Kompany stated.

“I have attempted to take an individualized approach with each person because I believe it is the correct course of action to ensure that everyone gets an opportunity to gain clarity regarding their future, so that’s taken care of. That was what we did during the window for transfers.

“Now that the transfer window has closed, our attention is solely on the team. This is the time of year when all we really want is one thing:

In 40 appearances during the previous season, Benson scored 13 goals, helping the Clarets storm back to the top division.

However, he has struggled to get into the game this season, making only two starts and five total appearances.
