According to the Telegraaf, FC Twente was considering making a move for Wout Weghorst in the most recent transfer window. The 31-year-old Dutch international is presently on loan from Burnley to TSG Hoffenheim. In 15 Bundesliga games for the team, he has five goals to his name. Following Manfred Ugalde’s departure in January, FC Twente focused on Weghorst.

The attacker has previously stated that he hopes to play professionally for Twente, the team he grew up watching. There’s a striker position at the club now that Ugalde has left. He will return to Burnley in the summer, where his contract is scheduled to expire in 2025, but for the time being he is still at Hoffenheim. Although Twente did inquire about signing the striker in the most recent transfer window, the Eredivisie team decided it was not feasible.

Weghorst paid over €17.5 million to rejoin Burnley during the winter transfer window of 2022. The majority of his time with the team has been spent on loan at teams like Besiktas, Manchester United, and Hoffenheim. He contributed three assists and two goals in 20 games for the Lancashire team.
