Vincent Kompany’s firm message to Burnley players following Arsenal thrashing.
For the remaining 13 games of the season, Burnley’s players need to put the Arsenal thrashing behind them and concentrate, as told by Vincent Kompany.
In what was maybe their poorest performance of the season, Mikel Arteta’s team defeated the Clares 5-0 on Saturday.
Even though Kompany didn’t sugarcoat how awful his team played against the Gunners, he understands that they can’t afford to focus on the humiliating experience in front of their own supporters.
I’ve played football long enough to understand how these kinds of games make you feel awful as soon as you exit the stadium. However, we must now concentrate on reviving that energy,” he stated.
“I am aware that many people would find it simple to disregard us at this point. That’s alright. The outside world is not who we need at this time. To ensure that we’re prepared for the next game, we need our own players, fans, and staff to bring that energy to the table.
“We wish to contend for this.”
Although many have now written Burnley off for the season and relegation now appearing certain, Kompany is adamant that the team still has the mindset to battle for safety.
“Now that Palace is in the spotlight. Although this game wasn’t very good, we have a ton of other games to go back to and concentrate on the final phase, which is producing results for us.
We now have a week to develop and present the identities we wish to present. The game Crystal Palace is really large.
“We can’t let this game define who we are, but we can keep thinking about it.”
Burnley does have a few more winnable games coming up, starting with Palace on Saturday, after recently playing championship contenders Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City.
After the trip to Selhurst Park, there are matches against Brentford, West Ham, and Bournemouth.
