Rushworth turns down offers to stay at Swansea.
According to reports this morning, Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, who is on loan, has declined offers to leave the Swans during the current transfer window and will be with the team until the conclusion of the season.
Rushworth, who was fortunate enough to miss yesterday night’s chaos at Bournemouth, has been one of the bright spots in what has otherwise been a very disappointing season for the Swans. However, there have been concerns that Brighton may recall him during this window and loan him—or maybe sell him—somewhere.
Though there has reportedly been interest in the goalkeeper, he has chosen to remain at Swansea and finish his loan period, according to sources from Football Insider this morning. Luke Williams must be relieved since Rushworth, in spite of his shaky defense, has tremendous control of his area and has demonstrated his ability to save shots when under duress.
Indeed, we are grateful for little mercies and all that on the day because if the goalkeeper hadn’t failed to save the game on Saturday, the five goals given up on the South Coast this season could have been much worse.
