Sad News: Boston Celtics head coach just announced his departure due to…

Who is going to coach the NBA All-Star teams in 2024?

It will be Sunday, February 18, in Indianapolis, for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, which is scheduled in less than three weeks. The Eastern and Western Conference starting lineups were revealed by the NBA on Thursday. The reserves will be revealed on Thursday, February 1, one week from now.

Simultaneously, the process of choosing the two teams’ coaches is quite straightforward. The All-Star teams in Indianapolis will be coached by the East and West champion teams, respectively.

But this year, there will be an issue since Joe Mazzulla, the coach of the Boston Celtics, who own the best record in both the East and the NBA (35–10), is not allowed to coach in the All-Star Game because he was Team Giannis’ coach in 2023.

This time, the East squad will be coached by the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, who have the second-best record in the East. Doc Rivers, Adrian Griffin’s substitute, will lead the Eastern Conference team in the NBA All-Star Game. Adrian Griffin hasn’t played since Tuesday.

Chris Finch, whose Minnesota Timberwolves are leading the Western Conference with 32 wins and 13 defeats, will coach the club from the Western Conference at the same time.

Just a few months after leaving the Philadelphia 76ers, Doc Rivers is set to return to the NBA. In order to replace Adrian Griffin, the seasoned coach reached an agreement with the Bucks, and he will try to lead the team to its first NBA Finals appearance since 2021.

As the coach of the club with the second-best record in the Eastern Conference, Rivers will also get the chance to serve as an assistant coach in the All-Star Game.

Joe Mazzulla’s ineligibility to coach for a second consecutive year means that Rivers will be coaching the East squad un the 2024 All-Star Game, making it his fourth career All-Star team coach. In 2008 and 2011, he led the East squad twice, and in 2021, he took over as squad Durant’s coach.

In the meanwhile, with the Timberwolves emerging as a serious title contender in the West, this will be the first time that Chris Finch coaches in the All-Star Game.

The players that will start for the East are Tyrese Haliburton, Damian Lillard, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, and reigning MVP Joel Embiid. On the other hand, the West’s starting lineup will include Nikola Jokic, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Luka Doncic.
