TORONTO — In 2024, three new coaches will be added to manager John Schneider’s team.

The Blue Jays revealed their whole roster on Friday, with Matt Hague taking the lead as the team’s new assistant hitting coach, Carlos Febles taking over as third-base coach, and John Lannan taking over as mental performance manager.

Entire coaching staff shown here:

Supervisor: John Schneider
Don Mattingly is the offensive coordinator and bench coach. Demaro Hale is the associate manager.
Pete Walker, pitching coach
Coach of hitting: Guillermo Martinez
Coach of first base: Mark Budzinski
Coach of third base: Carlos Febles
Jeff Ware, assistant pitching coach (bullpen)
David Howell, assistant pitching coach (strategic)
Hunter Mense is the hitting coach assistant.
Matt Hague, assistant hitting coach
John Lannan is the Major League mental performance coach. Gil Kim is the field coordinator.

Hague has been a Minor League hitting coach for the Blue Jays since 2020. He was highly regarded by the executive office and began his tenure at Class A Advanced Dunedin before moving on to Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-A Buffalo. His promotion to the major league ranks, which was previously announced by general manager Ross Atkins on January 3, follows the Blue Jays’ below-average offensive output from the previous year.

Since the end of 2023, Atkins has made several statements regarding the need to enhance the procedure and channels of communication the team uses to discuss strategy with its batters.

Reimagining those elements will be a challenge for Hague, returning hitting coach Guillermo Martinez, and bench coach Don Mattingly. There is optimism for such endeavor in Hague’s Minor League body of work.

Atkins stated, “We’re focused on streamlining our procedure.” We must adapt to the league as it has adapted to us. Naturally, we were working toward that goal last year, and we’ll just keep working for it during this summer. .. With several of our Major League and player-development batters, [Hague] has had amazing success. Therefore, [I] feel extremely good about the methodology to best serve them and the staffing structure.

The hitting strategist for Toronto the last two seasons, Dave Hudgens, isn’t mentioned on the 2024 roster.
