A 16-year-old boy, arrested last week on attempted murder charges for assaulting an entrepreneur with a baseball bat in Zesano Maderno, told investigators that the victim wasn’t specifically targeted and that anyone could have been in his place, sources close to the investigation reported on Tuesday.
“Anyone could have been in his position; it would have made no difference. He wasn’t my intended target,” the teen allegedly said. He also told investigators, “I don’t know why I did it.”
The teenager attacked his 60-year-old neighbor, a businessman, striking him in the head 19 times with the bat until it broke, according to investigative reports. The victim was critically injured and hospitalized at San Gerardo Hospital in Monza.
The teen’s family alerted the Carabinieri police after noticing bloodstains on his clothes. He was arrested last Wednesday on attempted murder charges for the attack, which occurred the day before. Despite no history of psychiatric issues, the boy was taken to Beccaria juvenile prison in Milan.
