Maryland baseball has hired Georgetown assistant coach Brock Keener as its new assistant coach, the team announced on Friday. Keener began his time with the Hoyas as a volunteer assistant in 2022, before being promoted to hitting coach and recruiting coordinator in 2023.

 

He previously held the same role at Army in 2022 and served as a student assistant coach at Michigan, where he also played two collegiate seasons for the Wolverines.

During Keener’s tenure at Georgetown, he helped lead the team to its first two Big East Tournament appearances in program history.

In other Maryland sports news, the volleyball team suffered straight-set losses to No. 9 Wisconsin on Friday and No. 14 Minnesota on Saturday, with Dylan Schmidt covering both matches.

No. 9 Maryland men’s soccer earned a 3-2 road victory over Washington in their first Big Ten matchup on Friday, with a recap by Max Schaeffer.

On Friday, No. 6 Maryland field hockey overcame Michigan State in a 3-1 come-from-behind win, covered by Nolan Rogalski.

Meanwhile, Maryland softball traveled to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for a series of exhibition games. The team faced Virginia on Saturday and played a doubleheader against Delaware on Sunday.
