Dave Roberts, manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, walked to the mound during the third inning of Game Six of the National League Championship Series (NLCS) against the New York Mets at Dodger Stadium. On this night, the Dodgers defeated the Mets to advance to the World Series.
This marks the Dodgers’ first World Series appearance since their title win during the shortened 2020 season. In all four of their wins during the 2024 NLCS, the Dodgers offense scored at least eight runs.
After securing the series, Roberts shared his thoughts at Dodger Stadium. “Right now, I’m just really excited. We’re close to finishing the job, and I’m so proud of our guys,” he said in an interview with MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM. He also reflected on the challenges the team faced throughout the season, particularly the injuries to key pitchers Tyler Glasnow and Clayton Kershaw. Despite their absence throughout the postseason, the Dodgers relied on a bullpen strategy, forcing Roberts to manage his pitching staff more creatively than usual.
Roberts, who has managed the Dodgers since 2016, has led the team to four National League pennants over his nine seasons. The Dodgers will now face the New York Yankees in the World Series, with Games 1 and 2 set to take place in Los Angeles.
