completed deal: Everton have interesting huge sign with defender…

Everton eye late January move for “outstanding” Ben Godfrey replacement.

Everton hasn’t exactly had the best month, ending the month in the Premier League relegation zone after Luton Town’s 4-0 thrashing of Brighton & Hove Albion and maybe facing another Financial Fair Play punishment soon. However, they still have two days remaining in the January transfer window to make a difference by adding some vital reinforcements.Ben Godfrey, an out-of-Favour defender who has been linked to a move to Leeds United before the end of the transfer window, may have to say goodbye to the team first. It is said that in a busy end to the window, if the defender does leave, the door might swing open for an instant replacement. Godfrey has been one of the players that may depart Everton for a while now given his position in the Goodison Park hierarchy. And Leeds might stand to gain from this.

The most recent sources state that Leeds’ loan proposal for Godfrey was turned down, but they are still working to complete a deal.

Naturally, given what has transpired since, the Toffees paid a reputed £25 million to acquire the defender from Norwich City in 2020.

If they sell up, they will be expecting to recover at least some of that sum. Godfrey’s departure would also provide for a substitute.

Team Talk claims that Everton is interested in Harry Soutar, who has also fallen out of favor at Leicester City. Everton may be willing to approve the Australian’s departure in order to make room for their own reinforcements before the window closes.

There are a lot of moving pieces, so it’s unclear if Goodison Park will welcome Souttar before the current window closes.

Everything might depend on Godfrey’s future and Leds’ ability to make a good enough offer inside the next 24 hours.
