The eagerly awaited national finals of the 24th Milo Basketball Championship (MBC) wrapped up at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos with Ijaiye Housing Estate Grammar School of Lagos State and Dom Dominos College of Delta State emerging as champions in the male and female categories, respectively.

In an intense and thrilling match in the male category, Ijaiye Housing Estate Grammar School triumphed over Father O’Connell, Niger State. The game, which ended 38-38 after the fourth quarter, went into extra time, where Ijaiye Housing Estate Grammar School finally edged out the boys from Niger State with a score of 49-45.h

Earlier in the female category, Dom Dominos College from Delta State defeating the 2023 champions, Topfield College, Ajegunle, with a final score of 44-38 to emerge as the national champions.

McVeigh is joined on the team by Patty Mills (captain), Joe Ingles, Matthew Dellavedova, Dante Exum, Josh Green, Nick Kay, Jock Landale, Duop Reath, Dyson Daniels, Josh Giddey, and Will Magnay

Playing in 78 games over three seasons in Lincoln, McVeigh averaged 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds a contest for the Huskers. He helped the 2017-18 team to a 13-5 record in Big Ten Conference play.

Since leaving Lincoln, McVeigh has enjoyed a successful career in his home nation. Earlier this year, he was named the National Basketball League (NBL) Grand Final MVP after leading the Tasmania Jack Jumpers to an NBL Championship.

All teams have likely cemented their rosters for the coming season, with some slight additions and subtractions to programs coming before the opening kickoff in late August. The Big Ten Conference is no different, despite the changes to the conference landscape over the past year.

With the addition of Washington, Oregon, USC and UCLA, the Big Ten will have a new variety of depth and talent coming to challenge some of the conference’s traditional powers. That sentiment carries especially with quarterbacks in the coast-to-coast league.
