Sean Dyche: Prepared to search Europe for deals in January
In January, Everton manager Sean Dyche will explore the European transfer market in an attempt to increase his alternatives for the second half of the Premier League campaign.
With his squad being the only one in the top division composed entirely of British and Irish players, Dyche has always recognized that he would conduct business in the home market because the club did not have the resources to scout much further afield.
However, Robbie Cooke, a former scout for Manchester United and Everton, was recently hired as their UK and international scout. Dyche feels that having a bigger network will help him attract better players to Turf Moor.

“We already had one, but we weren’t planning to move into Europe. Now that we are heading there, it doesn’t imply we will sign anyone, but we are starting to gather the background information and attempting to get the breadth of expertise required for hiring.

However, nothing is guaranteed; they don’t just appear on trees. There’s a myth that when you travel to Europe, thousands of elite players for the Premier League appear. That is untrue.
The British market has been much more unexpected and much higher than it has historically been, so we still need to establish which ones are right and align them with the team and what matches the team going forward.
“Players from outside are flooding the English game, especially in the Premier League, because it’s traditionally been regarded as a better level than entering Europe. We have discovered that it has been really difficult.
“It’s a huge issue for us as a club, but I can’t see it going backwards. Everyone tells me that’s going to go up with the new TV agreement, therefore, there’s every chance the fees, contracts, and wages will go up in turn.”
However, Dyche mocked the speculation that Everton was interested in South American player Junior Somoza earlier this week.
“I’m not familiar with that person,” he continued. That (our scouting) travels that far out is really unlikely.
“As the first marker, we’re constructing a base in England and moving throughout Europe; if and when there’s time to move beyond that, we’ll see, but definitely not right now, no.”
