Under the guidance of Chris Wilder, the team managed to reclaim their position in the elite division last season, securing the second spot in the Championship just behind Burnley. However, the Blades have failed to showcase their prowess in the Premier League, and it seems increasingly likely that Sheffield United will return to the Championship at the end of the season. In the previous round, the Blades faced Brentford in an away match, which they lost 0-2.
As a result, Sheffield United has been unable to secure a victory in eight consecutive matches, only garnering three points through draws in this stretch. Currently, the Blades occupy the bottom spot in the league table, accumulating sixteen points from thirty-two matches. They are trailing the 17th place by a margin of ten points.
As previously mentioned, Burnley, along with the Blades, returned to the top flight last season. However, it appears highly likely that this duo will return to the Championship together. At present, Burnley occupies the second-to-last position, trailing Sheffield United by only four points. Simultaneously, there is a six-point gap between Burnley and the safety position under Vincent Kompany’s management.
In the last weekend’s fixture, Burnley hosted Brighton at home and managed only a 1-1 draw. Conceding a goal in the 13th minute, the Claret and Blue managed to equalize only towards the end of the second half, with midfielder Josh Brownhill finding the net. Burnley’s winless streak now extends to four matches, during which they have drawn three times.
