A very sad moment for Ipswich town captain as the injury appears to be a career ending injury…..

One of the top contenders against Leeds United is anxious about the fitness of a crucial player ahead of the Championship’s crucial stage. Ipswich Town’s winger, Wes Burns, has pulled out of the Wales squad for the Euro 2024 play-off semi-final against Finland due to a hamstring injury sustained during Ipswich’s resounding 6-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.

The Football Association of Wales confirmed Burns’ withdrawal from the squad due to injury, wishing him a speedy recovery. The match between Wales and Finland is scheduled for tomorrow, with the winners set to host either Poland or Estonia on March 26 to compete for a place at Euro 2024 in Germany this summer. Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna expressed concern over Burns’ injury, indicating it’s not a minor setback and lamenting its impact on both the club’s season and the player’s international prospects.

Should Burns be sidelined for a significant portion of the remaining campaign, it would deal a significant blow to Ipswich’s aspirations of clinching a top-two finish. The 29-year-old has been a key figure for Ipswich this season, featuring in 32 Championship matches and contributing five goals along with three assists.

Following United’s 2-0 victory over Millwall, Ipswich slipped to third place in the standings, trailing league leaders United and second-placed Leicester City by a solitary point. However, Leicester City holds a game in hand over both United and Ipswich, adding further intensity to the promotion race.
