Since Andre Glasner is an ambitious player and problems might develop when a club does not match his ambitions, it is easy to presume that he has heard a lot from Crystal Palace that he loves. The Austrian left Wolfsburg in May 2021 despite the club’s success because he thought the amount of money invested at the time would not allow the team to advance. The summer before, he had departed Eintracht Frankfurt for much the same reason. At Selhurst Park, he will now replace Roy Hodgson.

Just as Wolfsburg was about to lock up a Champions League spot, sporting director Jörg Schmadtke quit over a personal dispute. With his second employer, Eintracht, he won the Europa League. During this unemployed season, his intention has been to move to England, where transfer budgets are more generous. Following talks about opportunities with Ajax, Marseille, and Lyon, Glasner’s coach, Ralf Rangnick, persuaded him to take a chance in the Premier League.

It is expected that Roy Hodgson will depart Crystal Palace because the team is now in talks with Austrian manager Oliver Glasner.

Some think Palace, who first inquired about Glasner last year, has pulled off a coup by working with him. Sven Militant, the former director of football at Ajax, acknowledged his respect for Glasner in an interview, but he failed to convince him to go to the Eredivisie.

Dougie Freedman, Palace’s sporting director, will need to work closely with Glasner to offer him what he wants. In comparison to other players Glasner has worked with, the Scot is said to be less susceptible to the head coach’s impact. Palace hasn’t always made risky trades; instead, they’ve usually prioritized both current Championship additions and well-established players, and it has paid well. They have finished between 10th and 15th over the past ten years, albeit they haven’t yet demonstrated this consistency.

Board advisor George Syrians thought Glasner’s approach would be perfect for the group and suggested him to Nottingham Forest to replace Steve Cooper. Even though they had a verbal agreement, Forest chose to hire Nuno.
