Blue Jays pitcher Erik Swanson shares positive update on son who was struck by car.

Last month, Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Erik Swanson and his family went through a terrifying event when their 4-year-old son Toby was hit by a car and needed to be taken to the hospital. Swanson announced on Thursday that his kid should be returning home shortly.

After being struck by a car on February 25, Swanson’s son needed emergency medical attention and had to be evacuated to the hospital. Swanson informed reporters a few weeks later that his son had made a full recovery and would be released soon.

Swanson reportedly added, “I stand here, very happily, telling you that in the next day or two, he should probably be going home,” as reported by MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson.

Following the incident, Blue Jays manager John Schneider stated that the players’ families and the rest of the clubhouse will help Swanson at this trying time. Toby, Swanson, and his spouse received support from the rest of the crew.

“We’re going to be there for them,” Schneider declared in a press release. “When discussing family and life, baseball takes a backseat. We will stand with him. The guys have been nothing short of amazing with him thus far, and you also have to consider the wives and significant others of the players who have also reached out. Though it’s been difficult these past several days, it’s wonderful to see everyone standing by Erik.”

Swanson said that his family is grateful for the tremendous amount of affection they have received while sharing the good news about Toby.

Swanson remarked, “It is beyond words how thankful we are.”

Swanson was dealt from the Seattle Mariners to the Blue Jays in November 2022. Swanson was selected by the Texas Rangers in the eighth round of the 2014 MLB Draft. Swanson made 69 appearances in the previous season and recorded a 2.97 ERA with 75 strikeouts.
