breaking news: Miami Dolphins head coach has just announced his departure due to…..

After three seasons with Miami, head coach Brian Flores has been sacked by the Dolphins, the organization announced on Monday morning. During his tenure, Flores went 24–25 and missed the playoffs.

Miami, which finished 10-6 in 2020 and 9-8 in 2021, is coming off consecutive winning seasons. After winning in Week 1, the Dolphins began the 2021 season with a seven-game losing streak. The team then came roaring back, winning seven games in a row. They defeated the Patriots and lost to the Titans to end the season.

“Today, I decided to split ways with Brian Flores,” stated Dolphins owner Stephen Ross in a release. “I felt this decision was in the best interest of the Miami Dolphins after assessing where we are as an organization and what we need to do moving forward to improve. I found that key dynamics of our football organization weren’t functioning at a level I want it to be.”

“I want to thank the Miami Dolphins organization for the opportunity to be the head coach of this team for the last three seasons,” Flores said in a statement to ESPN. Leading this group of men and representing the franchise was a privilege. Above all, I am appreciative of the players, coaches, and support personnel who consistently gave their all to help us win games. It was an honor of a lifetime for me to work with them every day, and they should be credited for any accomplishment on the field.

“I’ve always felt that the true essence of leadership is service, and I tried my hardest every day to serve the players, the staff, and the company. I have faith in this group and will always cherish the bonds my family and I have formed here.”

Ross was rumored to be targeting Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh as a potential Flores replacement, but the Dolphins owner stated in a press conference on Monday morning, “I’m not going to be the person to take Jim Harbaugh from the University of Michigan.” Follow The Athletics’ live updates here for additional information on the hirings, firings, and interviews occurring throughout the NFL.
