Celtics Coach Ime Udoka Faces Suspension After Alleged Affair with Staffer.

McCarthy reportedly penalized a player for demonstrating while the national anthem was being played, per the tweet.

The Boston Celtics’ head coach, Ime Udoka, could be suspended after it was revealed to PEOPLE by sources that he had an intimate relationship with a lady who worked for the team.

According to ESPN, which broke the story first, the head coach’s engagement to the staff member is deemed a violation of team policies. Information regarding the disciplinary penalty might be announced as soon as this Thursday. Since they first met in 2010, the actress Nia Long from Fatal Affair has been Udoka’s lifelong lover. Kez Sunday, their 10-year-old son, is shared by the couple, who announced their engagement in May 2015.

According to ESPN, the team is considering suspending Udoka for the whole 2022–2023 season; however, sources indicate that it is doubtful that Udoka’s job will be in peril going forward. The Celtics’ home opener against the Philadelphia 76ers on October 18 is just one month away. The 45-year-old Udoka, a former NBA player, has had great success in his second career as an NBA coach. He coached the San Antonio Spurs for seven years under head coach Gregg Popovich, helping the team win a championship in 2014.
