Pittsburgh With 14 days separating the Pittsburgh Steelers’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and their upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints, the team is on bye week. The supporters have been vocal in their demands that the offensive coaching staff be changed.

However, Mike Sullivan, the quarterbacks coach, said that the coaches gathered as a staff yesterday and that they did not discuss any intentions to change the composition or labor distribution among the Steelers coaches. It appears that those calls have gone unanswered.

“We went through here and had very very in-depth meeting,” stated Sullivan. “Meeting with the offensive staff and Coach [Mike Tomlin].” It’s primarily about carefully examining everything and anything we can improve. The main focus will be on how we can try to put our people in better positions and go about assembling a strategy.”

Rumors of Sullivan’s coaching transition had been centered around his tenure as offensive coordinator for the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sullivan would be a strong contender to take Matt Canada’s spot as play-caller if the Steelers decide to part ways with him.

Mike Tomlin, the head coach, has consistently said he’s “not there yet” when asked if he would overhaul the coaching staff. When asked explicitly if he felt safe in his work, Canada said that he had not received any guarantees.
