SAD NEWS: PALACE HEAD COACH ROY HODGSON HAS BEEN SACKED AFTER A 5:0 DEFEAT WITH A REPLACEMENT WHO…

Roy Hodgson is getting closer to the firing after Saturday’s humiliating 5-0 loss to Arsenal, which prompted Crystal Palace to create a shortlist of potential managers.

The embattled 76-year-old Eagles manager arrived at the Emirates under duress from supporters who haven’t held back in airing their grievances in recent weeks. And as Palace was mercilessly decimated by its merciless guests, the noise level of unhappiness escalated to unprecedented levels.

Gabriel Magalhaes’ header, Dean Henderson’s own goal, and Leandro Brossard’s deft finish took the wind out of Palace long before Gabriel Martinelli’s late brace added even more misery. At the final whistle, supporters responded by raising a protest banner in front of a dejected Hodgson, and it now appears that the Palace administration is preparing to take action.

The Mail claims that Crystal Palace has now assembled a four-man shortlist, including Steve Cooper and Julen Lopetegui, to succeed Hodgson. Following their departures from Nottingham Forest and the Wolves, respectively, both are currently single.

The Eagles have also long admired Kieran McKenna, the manager of Suffolk Town, who led the team to promotion from League One the previous season. At the moment, Ipswich is in the running for straight promotions and is close to the top of the Championship.

Bo Svensson, the chief of Mainz who has received a lot of praise in Germany, has also been recognized as an international contender.
