Garmin appears to have rolled out an improvement to the Resume Later feature. A new shortcut, making it easier to return to your activity, has been reported by some smartwatch users. There are similar features for other watch feature, but users have noted an issue with this tool.
The Garmin smartwatch Resume Later feature has been refreshed, according to recent reports. While the company has not officially announced the updated version of the tool, users have discussed it on Reddit. The Resume Later feature allows Garmin smartwatch users to continue a paused activity after a break. The benefit of this tool over the typical pause feature is that Resume Later switches off GPS to preserve battery life.
Garmin has now added a blue person icon at the top of the watch face, a shortcut for Resume Later, which you can use to quickly return to your paused activity. Previously, users needed to manually navigate back to their part-finished workout, requiring several taps. Photos from Reddit user u/svacher (below) show this shortcut on the home screen and also in always-on-display mode. However, other smartwatch users note an issue: depending on the watch face, the blue person can blend in with the rest of the watch face, making it hard to spot.
Like the blue man for Resume Later, there is a similar red clock icon that allows users to quickly navigate back to the timer. On top of this, there is said to be a similar feature for the flashlight. These tools have been reported by users of the Fenix 8 (51mm Solar Sapphire Edition curr. $1,169.99 at Amazon) and related smartwatches. It is unclear whether or when Garmin could roll out the Resume Later, time and flashlight shortcut icons to other smartwatches.
