Once again, former Texas Longhorns head coach Tom Herman is under pressure, finding himself on the hot seat as the college football landscape shifts with each passing season.
Now in his second year at the helm of the Florida Atlantic Owls, Herman has struggled to make an impact, posting a disappointing 6-11 record so far.
College Football Network offered a critical assessment of Herman’s performance at FAU:
“After firing Willie Taggart following the 2022 season, FAU Athletic Director Brian White cited the team’s lack of success under Taggart’s watch as the main reason for the move. When White hired Tom Herman in December 2022, he praised his proven track record and expressed confidence that Herman could achieve great things at FAU. Two years later, those optimistic words are coming back to haunt him. Taggart finished with a .455 win percentage, securing 15 wins in 33 games, while Herman has posted just a .272 record in his first 22 games with the Owls, winning only six. The recent loss to a struggling AAC opponent is seen as a major setback for the program. In his first season, Herman’s 4-8 record with a 3-5 conference mark was understandable as he tried to adjust to a new team and conference. However, in a weaker AAC in 2024, the Owls are now 0-6 in conference play and facing their worst season since 2016.”
Herman was the head coach at Texas from 2017 to 2020 before moving to FAU.
