Breaking News: Wide Receiver DJ Moore Strongly States the Future of the Bears

It’s hardly surprising that wide receiver DJ Moore is already talking about his own future with the Chicago Bears, since he hasn’t been silent regarding quarterback Justin Fields’.

Moore was obtained by the Bears from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. According to Pro Football Reference, Moore has been a grand slam since moving to Chicago, setting career highs in touchdowns (8), receiving yards (1,364), and catches (96). And he might not have reached his peak yet.

Even though Moore has only been on the squad for a single year, he has the freedom to express his opinions and future goals. He did just that on Wednesday, January 17, when he revealed to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin that he envisions himself retiring as a Chicago Bears player.

“I hope to stay here for at least five years before possibly retiring here. That’s the ultimate objective, Moore stated. “I believed that I would live in Carolina indefinitely. I wish to stay here for a longer period of time than the five years I spent there. That’s something I’m excited about.

Until something very significant and unexpected happens, Moore should be with the Bears for at least another two years.

Ahead of the 2023 season, Chicago made a deal for the remaining $62 million and three years of Moore’s contract. Therefore, barring a move by the organization, the 26-year-old wideout will play in the Windy City for the next two seasons.

His cost on the books is around $4.5 million less than his yearly average earnings throughout the term of the deal, with salary cap hits of $16.05 million in 2024 and 2025. This is a good structure for a team that as of Wednesday has more than $50 million in 2024 cap room to burn. He is set up to be the team’s best wide receiver for many years to come, regardless of whether Ryan Poles, the general manager, chooses to select a great talent with the first overall pick in the draft or Fields stays at quarterback.
