Breaking News: Anazagasty-Pursoo secures the singles…

Texas Women’s Tennis freshman Ariana Anazagasty-Pursoo claimed the singles title at the ITA Texas Regional Championships in Fort Worth on Tuesday. The Longhorns dominated the tournament, taking the top three spots, with freshman No. 104 Ashton Bowers finishing as runner-up and junior No. 96 Vivian Ovrootsky securing third place. This is the second consecutive year Texas has had both the champion and runner-up, following Malaika Rapolu’s win and Charlotte Chavatipon’s finals appearance last year.

Anazagasty-Pursoo earned her first collegiate title by defeating Bowers, 6-4, 6-4, while Ovrootsky triumphed over Texas A&M’s Daria Smetannikov, 6-2, 6-4.

Head coach Howard Joffe has now had a singles finalist or winner in the tournament for 14 straight years, including 10 at Texas and four previously at Texas A&M.

Tournament results and draw information can be found in the event hub.
