SHANGHAI, Oct 13 — World No. 1 Jannik Sinner triumphed over 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic 7-6 (7/4), 6-3 today, securing the Shanghai Masters title.

Sinner broke Djokovic’s serve in the fourth game of the second set, sealing victory in 1 hour and 37 minutes, and denying the Serb his 100th career singles title.

In a tense first set before a passionate crowd, neither player managed to break serve. In the tiebreak, Sinner immediately took control, breaking Djokovic on the first point and quickly going up 5-1.

Although Djokovic rallied, a netted volley gave Sinner a set point at 6-3. Sinner missed his first opportunity but capitalized on his second, clinching the set on his serve.

The match’s pivotal moment came in the second set’s fourth game when Sinner led 40-15 on Djokovic’s serve. Djokovic saved one break point with an ace, but Sinner responded with a brilliant forehand down the line to take the lead.
