The relationship between Aaron Rodgers and New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh has been closely scrutinized for some time, but the star quarterback continues to assert that there are no issues between them.
Rodgers appeared visibly frustrated after Saleh suggested, following the Jets’ 10-9 loss to the Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, that the offense may need to simplify their cadence after committing five false start penalties. In response, Rodgers stressed that players should be held accountable for their errors instead.
During his appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, Rodgers addressed the disagreement again, emphasizing that he’s not concerned with outside opinions.
“There will always be narratives and noise, and you have two options: ride the wave or say, ‘Forget it, I don’t care.’ I’m the latter,” Rodgers said. “I don’t engage with conversations happening outside the building about myself or my relationships. The key is knowing that the guys in the locker room and the meeting room have your back, and you have theirs.”
“Rob and I have a great relationship. From day one, we’ve had text conversations and discussions on various topics beyond football. We’ve got a good friendship.”
Rodgers, known for his ability to make defenders jump offsides with his loud cadence, believes the issue on Sunday was about discipline, not cadence adjustments. Saleh, for his part, seems to have understood the message from his star quarterback.
