Gary O’Neil aims dig at Everton after failed Wolves deal on Deadline Day.

 

The forward from Stamford Bridge has joined Fulham, a West London team, on loan through the end of the current campaign [official Fulham website, 2 February].

In regard to the unsuccessful move at Molineux, O’Neil brought up Everton’s 10-point deduction for financial rule violations earlier in the season.

According to O’Neil, “We could not afford to do it,” as Sky Sports reported. As a football team, it is where we are right now. However, we have not been charged 10p.

It was a cheap shot from O’Neil, who was probably more irritated than anything else because his team was unable to sign Broka as a new attacker.

The Albanian international ultimately left Chelsea on Deadline Day, raising the question of why teams wait so long to make moves during transfer windows.

Even though he hasn’t exactly been playing at his best this season, Broja should still improve Fulham’s front line and support Raul Jimenez, a former Wolves striker.

While O’Neil’s team is now in 11th place in the Premier League standings, they have been having a great season.

They lag Chelsea by just two points and one spot, and it’s possible that Chelsea doesn’t want to let Broka go to a direct opponent. Strangely enough, though, they sold them to Fulham, a West London rival team that isn’t all that far behind Wolves in the standings.
